Welcome from Danny Mitchell |

One of the stated goals for YXL is that we attempt to equip students to go back into the local church and put into practice what they have learned during the conference. That sounds great on paper but the reality is that many of the young people in our churches are experiencing an identity crisis as to their role within the church. Because of this, the theme of YXL 2012 at Covenant College is "The Church". During the week we will explore with the YXL students these three questions: (1) What is the Church? (2) What is Your Role in The Church? (3) What is the role of the Church in the Kingdom? And when we say explore...we mean explore...not just in what is taught from the Word but in our leadership activities as well. Of course, some activities like whitewater rafting down the Ocoee River are just for fun and not centered around our theme. That is, unless we can figure out how to turn shooting down a Class IV rapid into a Church focused activity. However, through the course of our week together at YXL, we intend to jump into the deep waters and biblically wrestle with significant issues concerning the Bride of Christ. Our belief at CEP is that Christ loves His Bride and if we claim to love and follow Christ then we should love the Bride as well. With the Lord's blessing, we hope to help YXL students do just that during our week together. ~Danny Mitchell |
